Timea Wharton-Suri

Timea Wharton-Suri serves communities through her work as an educator, curator, producer, and arts executive. For over three decades she has studied, performed, taught, curated, produced, programmed, administrated, and advocated for dance in Canada. While gaining this experience, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance from York University, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Arts and Media Management Graduate Diploma from Schulich School of Business. She continues studies in waacking, Black liberation, and dramaturgy. Timea has worked in various capacities with several organizations: In senior administrative positions at dance Immersion, Toronto Dance Theatre, Dancer Transition Resource Centre, and Toronto Arts Council; in curatorial roles with TO Live, Canadian Stage, and dance Immersion; as a movement educator with Turning Point and the Thornhill School of Ballet; as a strategic consultant to KasheDance and Nova Dance; and as a performer with Ronald Taylor Dance, Ballet Creole, and Higher Ground. She has also mentored numerous emerging artists who have gone on to contribute meaningfully to the arts as a way of paying it forward for those who mentored her along her journey.

Timea Wharton-Suri sert les communautés à travers son travail d’éducatrice, de conservatrice, de productrice et de directrice artistique. Depuis plus de trois décennies, elle étudie, pratique, enseigne, organise, produit, programme, administre et défend la danse au Canada. Tout en acquérant cette expérience, elle a obtenu un baccalauréat en beaux-arts (BFA) en danse à l’Université York, ainsi qu’une maîtrise en administration des affaires (MBA) et un diplôme d’études supérieures en gestion des arts et des médias à la Schulich School of Business. Elle poursuit ses études en waacking, libération noire et dramaturgie. Timea a occupé divers postes au sein de plusieurs organisations: elle a occupé des postes administratifs de haut niveau chez dance Immersion, Toronto Dance Theatre, Dancer Transition Resource Centre et Toronto Arts Council; elle a occupé des fonctions de conservatrice chez TO Live, Canadian Stage et dance Immersion; elle a été professeure de mouvement chez Turning Point et à la Thornhill School of Ballet; elle a été consultante stratégique pour KasheDance et Nova Dance; et elle a été interprète chez Ronald Taylor Dance, Ballet Creole et Higher Ground. Elle a également encadré de nombreux artistes émergents qui ont ensuite apporté une contribution significative aux arts, afin de rendre la pareille à ceux qui l’ont guidée tout au long de son parcours.
