Shannon Litzenberger

Shannon Litzenberger is an award-winning choreographer, director, embodiment facilitator, and thought leader working at the intersection of art, leadership, and systems change. For more than twenty-five years, she has been a catalyst in Canada’s dance and cultural sector, creating multi-disciplinary, sensory-rich performances and championing the role of artists in shaping public life.

As a dancer and performance maker, her work explores our relationship to land, the politics of belonging, and the forgotten wisdom of the body. She is the co-founder of the interdisciplinary Looking Glass Ensemble, a member of the Wild Soma embodied research collective and the Artistic Director of Shannon Litzenberger Contemporary Dance. Her work has been presented across Canada and the US, and she has been an invited resident artist at leading institutions including Soulpepper Theatre, Toronto Dance Theatre, Harbourfront Centre, Atlantic Ballet Theatre, Banff Centre, the Remai Modern, and Memorial University.

Currently, she serves as a Public Imagination Network Fellow and Artist-Researcher-in-Residence at the University of Toronto’s School of Cities and teaches in the Creative Leadership Masters Program at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Shannon Litzenberger est chorégraphe, réalisatrice, facilitatrice en incarnation et leader d’opinion primée qui travaille à la croisée de l’art, du leadership et du changement systémique. Depuis plus de vingt-cinq ans, elle joue un rôle catalyseur dans le secteur de la danse et de la culture au Canada, en créant des spectacles multidisciplinaires riches en sensations et en défendant le rôle des artistes dans le façonnement de la vie publique.

En tant que danseuse et créatrice de spectacles, son travail explore notre relation à la terre, la politique de l’appartenance et la sagesse oubliée du corps. Elle est cofondatrice de l’ensemble interdisciplinaire Looking Glass Ensemble, membre du collectif de recherche incarnée Wild Soma et directrice artistique de Shannon Litzenberger Contemporary Dance.  Son travail a été présenté partout au Canada et aux États-Unis, et elle a été artiste résidente invitée dans des institutions de premier plan, notamment le Soulpepper Theatre, le Toronto Dance Theatre, le Harbourfront Centre, l’Atlantic Ballet Theatre, le Banff Centre, le Remai Modern et la Memorial University.
