Peter chin

Peter Chin is a multidisciplinary artist from Jamaica and based in Toronto and Cambodia. He is
the artistic director of the performing arts company Tribal Crackling Wind and the co-founder of
the Neang Kong Kental (NKK) International Dance Centre in Cambodia. The work presented
this December is Chin’s tenth work for STDT/DAI since the first one twenty four years ago.
Since the mid 1980’s Chin has made a distinctive artistic mark in Toronto, across Canada and
internationally with his solo performances, choreographies, music, writing, film work and
mentoring. He is the recipient of many awards including a Gemini, multiple Dora Mavor Moore
awards, the Murriel Sherrin award for International Achievement in Dance, the Dance and
Media Snail award Japan, The Caribbean Lens best documentary award Los Angeles, among
others.

Peter Chin est artiste multidisciplinaire originaire de Jamaïque qui vit à Toronto et au Cambodge. Il est directeur artistique de la compagnie d’arts du spectacle Tribal Crackling Wind et cofondateur du Centre international de danse Neang Kong Kental (NKK) au Cambodge. L’œuvre présentée en décembre est la dixième œuvre de Chin pour le STDT/DAI depuis la première, il y a vingt-quatre ans. Depuis le milieu des années 1980, Chin s’est imposé comme une figure artistique incontournable à Toronto, au Canada et à l’échelle internationale grâce à ses performances solo, ses chorégraphies, sa musique, ses écrits, ses films et son mentorat. Il a reçu de nombreux prix, dont un Gemini, plusieurs prix Dora Mavor Moore, le prix Murriel Sherrin pour ses réalisations internationales dans le domaine de la danse, le prix Dance and Media Snail au Japon, le prix Caribbean Lens du meilleur documentaire à Los Angeles, entre autres.
