Lauren Runions

Lauren Runions (b. 1989) is a dance artist, choreographer, facilitator, and arts administrator based in Tkarón:to/Toronto and sometimes Kjipuktuk/Halifax.

As a dancer, they have most recently worked with Susannah Haight, pounds per square inch performance/Gerry Trentham, Christopher Willes & Adam Kinner, SLOW DANCE LAB/Sally Morgan, Jacinte Armstrong, Mocean Dance, kloetzel&co./Melanie Kloetzel & Anandam Dancetheatre/Brandy Leary, Lisa Phinney, and New Mineral Collective. Between 2012–2016, Lauren danced with Cadence Progressive Contemporary Ballet under artistic direction of Courtnae Bowman. Lauren has choreographed site-specific works for MOCA, Nuit Blanche, Long Winter, Radiant Rural Halls, and Nocturne. They have movement directed music videos in collaboration with Rachel Bobbitt, Fucked Up, The Weather Station, Alessia De Gasperis, Ian Daniel Kehoe, New Fries, and Jordan Hart. 

For Lauren dancing involves moving-thinking, writing, choreographic objects, community labs, performances, and daily independent practice. They adore supporting artists to present their work and facilitate their own emergent practices through teaching and mentorship. As an administrator, Lauren currently works with Toronto Dance Love-In and has worked closely with Ground UP Dance Festival and Dreamwalker Dance. They have coordinated for Nuit Blanche Toronto and at Artscape Gibraltar Point. Lauren is a graduate of George Brown College’s Performance Dance program, holds an MFA from NSCAD University with Oslo National Academy of the Arts/KHiO, and is completing their Pilates mat training at Mindful Movement Centre.

Lauren Runions (née en 1989) est danseuse, chorégraphe, animatrice et administratrice artistique basée à Tkarón:to/Toronto et parfois à Kjipuktuk/Halifax.

En tant que danseuse, elle a récemment travaillé avec Susannah Haight, pounds per square inch performance/Gerry Trentham, Christopher Willes & Adam Kinner, SLOW DANCE LAB/Sally Morgan, Jacinte Armstrong, Mocean Dance, kloetzel&co./Melanie Kloetzel & Anandam Dancetheatre/Brandy Leary, Lisa Phinney et New Mineral Collective. Entre 2012 et 2016, Lauren a dansé avec le Cadence Progressive Contemporary Ballet sous la direction artistique de Courtnae Bowman. Pour Lauren, la danse implique le mouvement-pensée, l’écriture, les objets chorégraphiques, les laboratoires communautaires, les performances et la pratique quotidienne indépendante.  Elle adore aider les artistes à présenter leur travail et faciliter leurs propres pratiques émergentes par l’enseignement et le mentorat. En tant qu’administratrice, Lauren travaille avec Toronto Dance Love-In et a collaboré avec Ground UP Dance Festival et Dreamwalker Dance. Elle a assuré la coordination pour Nuit Blanche Toronto et Artscape Gibraltar Point. Lauren est diplômée du programme de danse du George Brown College, titulaire d’une maîtrise en beaux-arts de l’Université NSCAD et de l’Académie nationale des arts d’Oslo/KHiO, et termine actuellement sa formation de Pilates au Mindful Movement Centre.
