Fides Krucker

Fides Krucker has created, produced and sung groundbreaking, award-winning work for forty years in Canada, the US and Europe: intimate salons, electroacoustic opera and interdisciplinary theatre dealing with relationship, disability, death and transformation. In 1991 Fides founded the female, interdisciplinary ensemble URGE; their final work was published by Playwrights Canada (2016). She has worked extensively with choreographers Peggy Baker, Louis Laberge-Côté, Lua Shayenne, Heidi Strauss, Jessica Runge, Justin Fraser and theatre company Lester Trips. In 2019 she released the improvisational recording Vanishing with Philadelphia guitarist Tim Motzer, and was praised for her “staggering range and control … a force of nature.” Her book Reclaiming Calliope: Freeing the Female Voice through Undomesticated Singing was published in 2022.
