APPLICATIONS AND AUDITIONS

2026/2027 Audition Application Requirements:
All application documents and information must be submitted through our Google Form linked below.
If you have any questions, please email admissions@danceartsinstitute.ca
1. Letter of Intent
In your letter of intent, please outline personal experiences that connect your creative impulses and career goals to your future studies at Dance Arts by describing:
- your most memorable dance-related experiences and/or what draws you to dance, and how this informs your desire to pursue professional training
- what current dance forms, choreographers, or work inspires you, and why
- in what ways you explore and/or think about movement in your daily life
- why you want to study at the Dance Arts Institute
2. Dance Resumé/CV
In your dance resume, please clearly outline your experiences that are relevant to your dance training and performance experience. This may include:
- Education/Dance Training
- Professional experience in:
- Performance
- Choreography
- Teaching experience
- Workshops
- Relevant scholarships and bursaries
- Other things relevant to your dance experiences
3. Pre-Audition Video*
Please submit a 2 minute unedited video of clear and good quality, with you dancing fully in frame. The clip needs to demonstrate: physicality, dynamic differentiation, floorwork (if possible), and a sense of musicality, ideally within a contemporary dance style that includes your own creative voice. This may be improvised or set material.
The video does not need to be of professional quality. For instance, a cell phone video recording of you improvising is more relevant and useful for the panel than zooming in on yourself in a group dance work might be.
Accepted file types: .mp4, .mov, .wav, or .avi
You may also provide an unlisted YouTube or Vimeo link
