ADVANCED STANDING: DIRECT ENTRY INTO 2ND YEAR
Advanced Standing
We are excited to announce that Dance Arts now offers advanced standing. Those with a 3-4 year university bachelor’s degree programs in dance, and 2-year dance college diploma programs are welcome to submit an application to our program and will be considered for direct entry into second year of our 3 year Professional Training Program.
You can audition for advanced standing either by video or you are welcome to join us at an in person audition.
Why continue your education at Dance Arts? We offer extensive training through what we believe is the greatest learning tool, experience. By encountering artists, choreographers and pedagogues actively working in the field, students are exposed to the most current practices through direct interaction with eminent dance practitioners, leaders, and creators nationally and internationally.

1. Advanced Standing Application
If you are a graduate of a 3 or 4 year University program, or 2 year College Diploma program in dance, you may apply for Dance Arts advanced standing to join 2nd year.
If you are applying for advanced standing, please list below:
- What University or College you attended
- What Degree or Diploma you earned
- Who was the director of your dance program
- Year of Graduation
2. Letter of Intent
In your letter of intent, please outline personal experiences that connect your creative impulses and career goals to your future studies at Dance Arts. You may want to consider these questions:
- What is your most memorable dance-related experience and/or what draws you to dance? How do you think this informs your desire to pursue professional training?
- What current dance forms, choreographers or work inspires you, and why?
- In what ways do you explore and/or think about movement in your daily life?
- Why do you want to study at Dance Arts?
3. Dance Resumé/CV
In your dance resume, please clearly outline your experiences that are relevant to your dance training and performance experience. This may include:
- Education/Dance Training Professional experience in:
– Performance– Choreography– Teaching Experience
- Workshops
- Relevant scholarships and bursaries
- Other information relevant to your dance experiences
4. Photo
A recent portrait or headshot.
5. Letter of Recommendation
The letter can be emailed directly to the school by a recent dance teacher to admissions@danceartsinstitute.ca
6. Contact Information for Three References
At least one reference must be a dance reference, and one must be a personal reference. Please provide a telephone number and/or email address (letter not required).
7. Transcript of Most Recent Academic Year, or Proof of High School/Secondary School Completion
Please send us your most recent transcript. If accepted, and you are still completing your 3-4 year degree or diploma, a final transcript will be requested upon graduation.
8. $50.00 Application Fee
Applicants are required to submit a non-refundable $50 application fee. All payments must be made in Canadian funds. Please send e-transfer to bethany@danceartsinstitute.ca, and include the following information in the description:
